New Jersey requires every business and professional that tests for or mitigates radon to be certified by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. The DEP Radon Section runs the certification program and issues a certification number to each certified business and a separate number to each certified individual. Ask a contractor for both numbers and verify them with the Radon Section before hiring.
